Holistic Elemental Movement: Integrating Breath, Body, and Awareness

Image
Movement, breath, and meditation are often practiced in isolation, yet the body does not function in isolated parts. Strength, mobility, coordination, breath, and awareness are all deeply interconnected. A holistic movement approach brings these aspects together, allowing the body to be trained as a complete system rather than as separate capacities. This practice integrates three layers. The first is physical, where the body develops strength, agility, coordination, balance, and flexibility. The second is breath, where attention is given to how we inhale, exhale, and regulate rhythm, influencing the nervous system and internal pressure systems. The third is awareness, where movement is not automatic but observed, making the body both the subject and the point of attention. The five elements provide a useful framework to organize this experience. Earth represents stability, load acceptance, and structural integrity. It is the body’s ability to manage gravity and external force. Mo...

The Lingering Viking Spirit

Reflections on Characters from the Series Vikings I recently finished watching the series Vikings on Netflix and I was quite intrigued by the unique intersections shown in the evolution of faiths. The Vikings believed in nature and lived closer to it. Yet a primal instinct of exploration, born out of curiosity in the key protagonist Ragnar Lothbrok, brings about a revolution in the community. Farmers, savages, and worshippers of nature eventually become some of the greatest explorers known to mankind, exploring through the sea. While the epic on Netflix is based on fiction and there may be changes in the storyline, the character evolution is beautiful. Ragnar Lothbrok Ragnar Lothbrok can be considered an archetype within all of us. That curiosity, desire for power, and yet deep love for his people drive him to travel the world. A firm believer in his faith and in his gods, his belief is tested during his journey when he meets Athelstan, the priest, within whom he finds an unexpected a...

Life and Loneliness

Much has been spoken about this concept, my favorite being the discourses by Osho and Jiddu. While today I was contemplating and summarizing the understanding of these concepts to finally pen down something I can come back to always, I realised the idea of loneliness first exists in our mind, hence we couple it with some story always in our mind, an ongoing dialogue in our head either with ourselves or with the other.     The idea of loneliness is a story we create in our head, to kill that concept of future we create more stories and ideas to help us get rid of loneliness our present is thus in reality just acting in accordance with the fear of loneliness. In the process when things do not go as planned we tend to feel hurt, more fearful of our future being lost, as our planning was based on fear always.     Hence entire work of Jiddu and Osho connects when they say look at your thoughts in present,in the day today movement of thought and observe where the act...
