Forgotten creative expression

Image
It has always taken me some time to get into writing. School was always filled with essay writing which I used to enjoy so much and that felt so easy to do always. I perhaps wrote without any fear of judgement, entire curriculum in fact was interesting as it was my intense desire to just learn and read. Exam was mere activity that I was undertaking as a part of the course. What went wrong later was that the idea of writing as a part of creative outlet or expression of my ideas was distorted by the fact that writing became performative, it wasn't fun any more, it appeared as if I need to prove plus English being my second language it was always as if I need to develop separate skills of writing and expression it felt.     Marathi being my first language, I don't really know if I think and express myself adequately in marathi too. Maybe it is a mix of all, English, Marathi and Hindi; I am so grateful for knowing these languages as it has opened up vast...

Need of holistic health care_but first what is health!!

One of the unique experiences in human existence is the uniqueness of each individual being. Entropy exists in each species to help adapt and survive. We are less predictable and cannot be put into any kind of structure, not only societal but overall, even something as simple as being bound to a particular diet, healthcare regime, or a specific thought process. The more flexible we are, the more adaptable we become, and the stronger we are to bear the impact of a constantly evolving existence. When it comes to health, as defined, it is not only physical but extends to emotional dimensions as well, along with aspects that we access in a more spiritual sense. To simplify, let us consider the dimensions also mentioned in the WHO definition of health, which encompasses physical, mental, and social health. As the definition goes: a state of complete physical, mental, and social well being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Let us understand the concept of social well bei...

A Hermit's Palace....Of Illusions...

The idea of happiness encompasses in human minds, essentially certain materialistic possession which basically stems from the need of identification that in turn leads to building relationships with things. While so many of our habits and attributes stem from our animalistic characteristics and our relationship with the jungle, this idea of identification seems to be pretty evolved with the development of human 'ego'.  Animals do not accrue more than what is essential, even babies do not choose to stockpile their toys.      The ego needs certain attributes associated with it to develop an identity and one gathers things to differentiate oneself from the other souls. While it is necessary to possess what is needed to survive, have certain identity we end up accumulating to an extent where we lose our identity, forget that we are spirits before humans and entangle ourselves in the illusions of the world.  A short interaction with a spiritual being in a tiny abode ...

Bootstrapping life..

'Change is the only constant' reminded a friend, when I faced the dilemma of executing the radical decisions I had made. The things that we own end up owning us, the start to a radical shift for me was by auditing the things that I owned and consumed. Other aspects such as friends, relatives, career choice, etc shall come subsequently. While I had been able to part easily with the idea of validation through a social media post, parting with the things I had collected was one of the hardest things to do. I would have shifted so many places in my college life as well as my career later on, but I never mindfully filtered the things that I carried and kept with me all along which in turn occupied lot of space physically as well as in my mind.  Fashion that is sold to us through some idea of a temporary mood shift called 'trend', some festive offer, end of season sales, festivals, office meetup dress codes force us to feel the fear of missing out, yada yada yada... in hindsi...

Un'systemization' of self...

The system is so designed to make you addicted and dependent on it.. Consume, crave, work, consume, crave, work...and the cycle continues in loop till we die (and wake up in the afterlife to realise we fulfilled some dream we were sold by the people we did not like for the life we never wanted) Wake up at a certain time.. Go to a workplace you don't like.. Eat street food to save energy and satisfy our cravings.. Spend weekends consuming more to compensate for the lost week.. Hate Mondays.. Hate Mornings.. Attend meetings that are not necessary.. Feel stuck.. ........and that's how it should be, everyone does it the same way, earn more, buy that house, take that vacation, buy that car, get that necklace, marry that chic, have kids, they need good education, ......uff  we create a mess of a drug around us, blind ourselves with its smoke! The skills that one has developed seek a job in the system and the rewards keep us hitched to it like a rat in the psychoanalytical experiment ...

Layers of mind..

Sharing an understanding from the first chapter of the Yoga sutras: The world is what we create in our minds! It is the projection of understandings of the external world. Consider there are three parts to our being:  The stimulus: It can be visual, auditory, sensory etc The organ : That perceives the stimulus The mind: That makes sense of the stimulus A discerning mind can only understand the mind deciphers the world based on its past conditioning. A particle of sand is enameled by an Oyster to create its own little pearl, that is what we do as human beings; distort the reality with the enamel of our biases and conditioning.     Truth is to look at the stimulus as it is: unbiased. How is it possible to discern? Knowledge, understanding, rationalisation, questioning, contempt, introspection... Look at your patterns, the layers which we naturally create in our minds... Is this the better way of living or creating our own enamel is a better way? That needs to be...

Manifesting 'better'...

Do you feel better?  Are you calmer than before? Are you more in the moment? Are you more aligned with the nature? Are you more aware of the mystery beyond what you perceive? Are you open to receive magic from the universe? Are you proud of your journey through life which is a rarest possibility? Did you let go of that one small thing that bothered you so much and could you laugh at the absurdity of life? If the answer to any of the above questions is a 'yes', you are on the right path.... Remember to take one step at a time..
